My first horse was a Mustang. I didn't "break" her and boy, howdy! did she teach me a thing or two. We were wild together; both "green broke," meaning unbroken, really. No horse, not even my Spanish Barbs (the foundation of our Mustangs), have the horse-sense she had. Suffice it to say that other riders on ordinary horses (those without a Barb/Mustang foundation) were astounded by the way she traveled terrain. So thank you for the tribute to the soul of the American West.
This is timely and deeply synchronistic (for me) as I’m disturbed with the current fed government (BLM) attack on the wild mustang herds, rounding them up for kill pens in favor of the cattle industry...this symbolic war on the spirit of the land is ongoing with the “domestication” of us all...Sol your piece captured the importance/power of the equine...thank you
