People live in a reactive state 24/7 looking for something to react to in a way that makes others wrong, not because they are wrong but because social media algorithms have trained people into the compulsion of reacting in opposition to everything they see because the algorithms only feed people rage bait and argument fodder.
You could post “I love dogs” and someone would argue to the death that you’re wrong. Some people would even start arguing with stories they made up in their minds about what they think you said about how you hate cats, and if you attempt to correct them to steer the conversation back on course, they’ll throw a fit, troll you, and then block you and continue talking about you by making 10 posts about how horrible you are to gain sympathy from their followers so they feel justified in the argument they think they just won with a stranger online.
If you think about the full impact of social media it’s hard not to believe it’s been designed as a tool of division, because even when there is agreement or civility it’s in pockets of echo chambers where people take shelter from the big bad world of other ideas. And then we have the “nervous system coaches” that are trying to heal people from all this damage but don’t recommend getting off social media.
“Come to Earth,” they said. “It will be a blast,” they said. 😂 What a sticky trap! You have to be just crazy enough to kill Your Self to wake up here.
