I have argued both sides of "forgiveness". On the one hand, it is empowering to put it behind you and walk away. But so many people I know (many of them Christian) can't do it. They see it as surrender rather than release. Surrender is much harder. In those hard cases, I usually have to use tapping. I will take it a step farther and suggest the power in self forgiveness. Taking those things in your past you have unresolved emotion towards. It is with these that tapping was the most helpful.
I hear you. I, too, feel that self-forgiveness is massively important in healing and transformation. Really, IMHO, there can be no forgiveness of others without forgiveness of self.
